Brittany
Situated in the North-West of France, Brittany is washed by the ocean from three sides. With its dizzy steeps, sand beaches, rosy and lilac cliffs, Brittany is full of fascinating names, such as Cote de Granit Rose (the Coast of Rose Granite) or Cote de Legendes (the Coast of Legends). The part of the seaside that hosts the best resorts is known as Cote d'Emeraude (the Emerald Coast).
Seafood is the main ingredient of this region's specialties, the most popular of which are hot fish soup and sole.
Continental Brittany is a place full of legends, wonderful springs, romantic castles and small traditional villages. It is famous for its apple orchards and picturesque pastures.
Traditional cuisine is based on butter, sour cream and cow cheese. The famous apple-based alcoholic beverages also come from this region. Anywhere here one can taste white veal sausages from Rouen and Morlaix hams.
Normandy
Situated not far from Paris, this land of glorious historic heritage is exceptionally dear to the heart of any Frenchman. The two most important sights of this region are the Saint-Michel castle-church and the city of tapestries - Bayeux.
Normandy is also hundreds of miles of seashore with a multitude of sea resorts. The most famous among those, beyond doubt, is Deauville, created in the 19th century for the court of Napoleon III. Deauville has perfectly equipped fitness and thalassotherapy centers, a grand casino, especially active in the summertime and a race track, known for the greatest horse-race in France, held annually from August 1 to 31.
A special place among the most important industries of this extremely fertile land is occupied by fishing and the traditional oyster and shellfish farming.
Cattle here is fattened on water-meadows. Mutton and lamb from this region is called "pre-sale" (pre-salted), because rams and sheep pasture on rich meadows with salt-containing grass. Nowhere else in France can one find such excellent butter and milk as those coming from Normandy. This land is also known for its apple orchards, apple cider and Calvados - strong apple brandy.

Just several minutes from Mont St Michel is the place of landing of the Allied troops in the World War II.
After a visit to the Omaha Beach Museum or the Museum for Peace at Caen go to Bayeux, a town of ancient houses and castles, built in the period from the 15th to the 18th century. Then visit the Notre Dame Cathedral and see the famous tapestry immortalizing the victory of William the Conqueror.
Discover the magnitude of Norse castles and villas in Deauville, the true pearl of which is Villa Strassburger, bearing the name of an American millionaire, who fell in love with this famous town, the embodiment of the Augeron style.
